Uneven concrete. Recurring dampness. A floor that never looks finished. If that sounds like your Caribbean home, villa or business, choosing the final color is only part of the solution. At Resinart Finishes, we start with the concrete so we can plan a seamless resin finish suited to the property.
Thinking about a clean white floor, soft pearl finish or ocean-inspired metallic design in the U.S. Virgin Islands? Start with a floor assessment. Tell us about your USVI flooring project.
Problem 1: uneven floors need preparation, not just another coating
A thin decorative coating follows the surface beneath it. It does not automatically remove high spots, dips or old repair marks. We assess the floor’s profile, existing finishes and condition before planning preparation.
Depending on the substrate, that plan may include grinding high areas, repairing suitable defects and using a compatible patching or leveling system. The primer, leveling layer and finish must work together. We also consider door clearances, transitions and drains. A shower or outdoor area may need a designed slope rather than a perfectly level surface.
Problem 2: moisture inside the concrete must be assessed
Concrete can look dry while still containing moisture. We investigate the condition and source, and use the testing required for the proposed system. A quick surface reading alone may not establish whether a slab is ready for a resin finish.
Where suitable, a manufacturer-approved moisture-vapor mitigation system can reduce vapor transmission before compatible preparation and finish layers are installed. Product limits, coverage and application conditions matter. We follow the specified sequence for the complete assembly.
Active leaks, drainage failures, structural movement or water pressure may need separate repairs first. A moisture-vapor barrier is not a universal fix for flooding or water intrusion. If conditions are unsuitable, the right decision may be further repair or a different flooring approach.
Can you have a seamless white floor in the Caribbean?
Yes—a white resin floor can be an option once the substrate and exposure have been assessed. The important question is which complete system is appropriate for that room. We discuss sunlight, indoor or outdoor use, wet traffic, cleaning products and the finish you want before specifying materials.
How we plan for resistance to yellowing
For a white finish, we consider a compatible, UV-stable pigmented wear coat, such as an appropriate aliphatic polyurethane, subject to the manufacturer’s system requirements. This differs from leaving a conventional clear epoxy as the exposed surface. A clear UV-resistant topcoat alone does not make every underlying epoxy color-stable.
The color layer, topcoat and expected sunlight must be evaluated together. We review samples and product data for the actual installation. Outdoor terraces and sun-exposed interiors require their own assessment; an interior specification is not automatically suitable outside.
How we plan for stain resistance
A suitable protective wear coat can improve resistance to staining and chemicals. We match that protection to likely spills and cleaning routines, then provide care instructions. Prompt cleanup, compatible cleaners and avoiding abrasive damage help preserve the finish. White surfaces also make dirt and wear more visible.
The goal is a bright, easy-care surface with UV stability and stain resistance appropriate to its use. No floor is immune to every exposure or spill. Performance depends on the complete system, installation and ongoing care.
From a sound base to your chosen look
Once suitable preparation and moisture-control work are complete, we can explore solid white, warm ivory, pearl, metallic movement or stone-inspired resin designs. Availability depends on the selected system and site. Seamless describes the continuous decorative finish; movement joints and necessary construction details still need to be respected. Wet areas also require attention to texture and drainage.
Planning a floor on St. Thomas, St. John or St. Croix?
Send us “USVI FLOOR” with your island, approximate square footage, wide photos, close-ups of uneven or damp areas, and your preferred finish. Tell us whether the space is indoors or outdoors and whether there have been leaks, peeling coatings or standing water. Photos help us start the conversation; they do not replace site testing.
Request your USVI floor assessment, email info@resinartfinishes.com, or call (702) 582-9131. USVI scheduling, material shipping and project feasibility are confirmed individually. For other Caribbean islands, contact us to discuss location and logistics before making plans.
